There's Nothing Like Fall in Colorado
It’s no secret, we love the fall in Colorado. The sunny days without the scorching heat, the cool, crisp nights… you can almost smell the snow coming when you’re up checking out the fiery aspen leaves in the high country. For much of the rest of the country, fall is beautiful, but the autumn season is also the harbinger of a nasty time of year ahead. In the State of Exploration, all four seasons are perfect, and we can get all of them all 12 months of the year. Anyone who’s spent any time here at all knows that it’s always wise to keep some layers in the car for when the weather suddenly shifts. You'll often hear the phrase, "Don't like the weather? Wait five minutes."
Autumn Has arrived in colorado
It's the first day of October, and this morning we woke up to a not-so-bluebird Colorado day. Fall is here with a vengeance. The magic month brought grey skies and drizzle with it, to remind us all that not every day can be 80 degrees and sunny in Colorado.
This past weekend, all kinds of Colorado residents made their annual pilgrimage to all corners of the Rocky Mountains to keep the "leaf-peeping" tradition. All of those who sat in traffic or began their hikes before sunrise were rewarded by one of the most awe-inspiring leaf changings that Colorado has seen in years. From the San Juan Mountains and Wolf Creek Pass to Kenosha Pass, Peak to Peak Highway, Estes Park, North Toward Aspen, all the way to Red Feather Lakes and Beyond, Colorado's trees dressed up in their finest yellows, reds, and oranges.
If you made it up to see the leaves, we'd love to know where you went! Let us know in the comments.
Colorado's Four Seasons...Daily
On any given day in Colorado, despite the time of year or season, you can experience a whole range of weather in a 24-hour period.
We have had many days that manage a 50+ degree change in the scope of the time the sun is up. Often times, the temperature will be 75 degrees when you wake up, then 30 degrees and snowing by the afternoon. Having such a drastic swing of weather helps keep Coloradans on their toes - and also keeps it interesting. In Colorado, we don't worry that we won't see the sun in the winter. We know that the sun will warm the ski slopes enough to remove your jacket.
Dressing for Colorado's ever-changing weather can take a lot of skill. Here are some rules to live by:
- Always keep a coat in your car
- Always keep shorts in your car
- Bring a sweater or jacket with you when you're out to eat; the weather may change in the time it takes you to have dinner.
- Always have an umbrella handy.
- If you don't have an umbrella handy, sit tight for 10 minutes and see what happens.
- If you see clouds on a hike, count on the weather changing and head back to the car.
Perfect Gear for Colorado Weather
Colorado's ever-changing forecast (daily seasonality) is why we focus all our gear to be perfect for our gorgeous seasonal weather.
We make our Colorado tees just a little thicker than average so they work just as well on a hot day in Denver as they do on a cool afternoon in Frisco. In addition, our tees sport designs that are perfect for each of the four seasons, from ski lifts to the Denver skyline to the classic Colorado flag.
Our beanies are breathable and the perfect weight to keep you warm in the mountains, without making you sweat in the city.
We have the perfect layers, like our famously popular Crush hoodie - soft and just the right weight to work for all 12 months of the year. Too hot, tie it around your waist until the Colorado weather turns. Too cold? Add another layer on top with the Aspen Forest.
Every piece of 1876 Apparel is specifically designed for life in The State of Exploration. Colorado clothing has never been so versatile, so luxurious, and so stylish.
